GRANT REVIEW PROCESS

Our mission is to bring the region's technology community together to raise funds for social, medical, and educational organizations that benefit the development of the children of New England.

Our principal focus is on charities that for a variety of reasons are not currently capable of attaining monies from larger philanthropies, but which are deserving of support in their excellent work. NETF understands the challenges of running a grassroots charity, growing a new charity, or sustaining a charity doing extraordinary work on behalf of a small constituency.

In order to best serve our mission, and maximize our impact on children and deserving charities, we employ a "portfolio" approach to our grant process. Each of the charities we fund fall within one of three general categories that make up our portfolio:

First time grants for charities to get going and grow to the next level. Our hope is that with our modest assistance these new or grassroots charities will grow and find more funding elsewhere in future years.

Subsequent funding to worthy charities that still need our assistance. Our grant review process would include an evaluation of whether increased NETF funding would improve a charity's ability to grow and, or attract funding from other sources.

Continued funding to worthy charities that still need our assistance. For a variety of reasons, some excellent charities may simply never find funding sources beyond the resources of NETF. Our grant review process will include an evaluation of the benefit provided to the charity's constituents with an eye on the number of other worthy charities we are able to nurture within the remaining portfolio.

By keeping a balance of these categories, NETF is best able to ensure that our limited resources are best deployed to assist those charities that do not have access to more traditional funding and are making a real difference to needy children in New England.
